Assessment

Your certified nurse will follow all current health recommendations provided by the CDC.

The nurse will begin with a patient interview and examination of your feet and lower legs. You will be seated with your feet elevated, and the nurse will look at your feet and lower legs from every angle. Remember to tell your nurse about any painful areas or sores. The nurse will discuss a treatment plan and answer any questions.

Treatment

A wide variety of tools is available in your certified nurses cart which enable her to treat your feet based on your unique foot care needs. She will probably use a combination of tools including clippers, a sanding tool for nails and calluses, an emery board, and perhaps a curette to check for ingrown toenails.

final foot care

After nails are shortened and smoothed and corns and calluses are sanded, the nurse will clean your feet with baby wipe and perform a final foot assessment. Any problem areas will be discussed along with a treatment plan. The plan may include needed referrals to a medical doctor or a podiatrist. She will discuss home techniques for the optimum care of your feet. The best part of foot care treatment for many clients is the moisturizing foot rub at the end of the session!
